Can anybody give me an idea of the best (read cheapest) place to get a polarizing filter? Sony wants around $180 for 77mm and $100 for a 55mm. I'd like to have both but-----

Thanks

If you bought a step up adaptor 55-77mm you could get away with only needing

the 77mm polarizing filter

donp.....Do you want a cheap filter, or a good filter cheap?

This is one of those areas where you tend to get what you pay for. You can certainly lower your cost by getting a 55-77mm adapter ring as musket suggested, but you should at least get a coated filter (multicoating is better) made from optical glass (some aren't).

Find a few candidates and use one of the price-comparison services to get a handle on the price range.

If you were lucky, you might be able to get a good filter cheap on ebay, but getting a good deal there ofter takes a long time.
