I'm looking at a Tameron 18-200 lens for my Sony A100. Is anybody using this lens and how to you like it? Thanks

I used to have it. I didn't like it and sold it.

First, the Tamron 18-200and the Sony 18-200 are identical, despite the price difference. Similarly, the Tamron 18-250 and the Sony 18-250 are identical except that the Sony has faster autofocus gearing.

Second, superzoom lenses in general, and the Tamron 18-200 in particular, are dim and soft throughout their zoom range, suffer from optical distortion at the wide end and chromatic aberration at the long end. Seperate zoom lenses with less ambitious zoom ranges will provide higher image quality and cost less.

Third, if you really want a single lens to do everything, the Sony 18-250 is the best choice for your A100. It's the best lens of it's kind, though that's not saying much.
