Default Learning the Camera

I just puchased the canon EOS 10D. Please advise the best book on how to learn to use a digital camera with manual settings.

Sounds like you got a Lear Jet before you tried the Cessena. There is no "best book" on what you are looking for. Manual settings on a digital SLR are almost exactly like using a film SLR...it's basic photography. There are thousands of good books on basic photography, but here's a link to get you started:

I'll second the recomendation to look at photo books without looking for specifically digital. An f/stop is the same, exposure time is the same, ISO is very close to the same thing (curve and range are different). Read the clasics by folks like Adams and Weston - those have some of the best photos ever made as illustrations. Just keep in mind that some issues like perspective control with view cameras are dealt with by software with digital.
