Hi all,

I have a number of old photos that I'd like to put on my computer. I'm planning on taking photos of them and would like some tips please. Some are fairly recent but many are quite old and black and white.

Thanks,

Dom

Dom,

You would be better served by using a scanner. The scanner is better at copying the picture than the camera, because you would not introduce any problems caused by the ambient lighting and the scanners lighting is controlled. Also, the camera if not truly perpendicular to the photo would introduce distortions of varying kinds.

Yeah. What Gritty said.

Also, imperfections in the camera's lens will affect every image. And I'm guessing that the photos are of various sizes, which means you'll have to set up each photo individually. That would take a lot of time and effort for a task that a scanner could do simpler and better.

You can take good pictures from old papers. You must never use flash . You must use macro mode. Room lights must powerfull, estimate your shadows. Your two elbows must be lean on the table side. and press smooth on trigger. final results will be very good. I tryed.
