Just wanted to post in here with some answers to common questions users may have about the acquisition of Steve's Digicams. I work with the online communities on many of Internet Brands' sites and I'm looking forward to spending more time here!

Q: Why did Internet Brands buy Steve's DigiCams?
Internet Brands' mission is to help consumers plan important purchases and discuss areas of interest to them. Steve's DigiCams' users offer outstanding advice and support for people involved with digital photography and equipment.

Q: Will Steve's DigiCams become part of another Internet Brand site?
A: No, Internet Brands plans to keep Steve's DigiCams a separate, thriving site operating as it does today.

Q: What changes can we expect to see on Steve's DigiCams?
A: For the most part, Steve's DigiCams will remain essentially unchanged. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. The main change in the coming months will be that Internet Brands migrating the site to more powerful computers. Beyond that, Internet Brands plans to brainstorm with the moderators of the site about improvements that would make the site even better.

Q: Will my log-in or password change?
A: No you will still access Steve's DigiCams as you always have.

Feel free to ask more questions and I'll do my best to answer them!

Yes! The current reviewing staff will continue to do hands-on camera reviews.

Glad to hear that things are going to be kept more or less the same. This board is always a friendly, well run bulletin board, and it's a joy to hang out here. Are you planning on adding server capability? The board occasionally gets too much traffic for the current capability, and that would be nice.

Great question. We plan to upgrade the forums to vBulletin software in the next few months. This upgrade will enhance the feature set and performance of the forums, and hopefully alleviate these and other issues.

Many of us are familiar with the shortcomings of the WowBB Software currently in use. Can we presume that:
  1. The wealth of information that is already burried in these pages will not be lost during the migration to vBulletin?[/*]
  2. Internet Brands already uses vBulletin in similar applications, and your abundant IT resources will be available to support Steves-Digicams in the future?[/*]

Yes to both!

1. The migration to vBulletin will keep all of the great historical discussion threads intact. We have successfully migrated several forums from a variety of software packages onto vBulletin, and retaining the wealth of information in past forum posts is a key deliverable for our migration team.

2. Internet Brands owns vBulletin software, so fortunately we have a direct line with the best vBulletin tech resources in the world. We are very hopeful that our tech team brings a greatly improved level of technical support and resources to Steves-Digicams.
