As a relative newbie, I have been perusing many photo's here. Especially on the Critques forum, and others, where I have come upom the acronym "HDR". I am at a loss here :?:?. What does this mean, and what am I missing???

Thanks

HDR stands for High Dynamic Range. Usually it is applied to a photo which is a composite of 3 or more bracketed exposures, combined to show good shadow detail and highlight detail at the same time. This can't usually be done with one exposure in high contrast lighting situations, though there are cameras now with built-in abilities to do this.
