Default Coolpix 990 WinXP (driver?) problem

Hi all - I haven't posted in a few years, since I got a Nikon 990 and had some various questions (which members were very helpful on). I hope this questions hasn't been posted 100 times already (but a search ddin't get me an answer easily).

Problem: I upgraded to Win XP Pro from 98SE. The Nikon software CD will not install, and XP does not recognize the USB link to the 990.

Ideas?

--Thanks

Bruce,
I wouldn't waste my time with that stuff. Just get a $15 USB card reader. Plop out your card from the camera. Insert into reader. Click on "open folder option" when the dialog box appears. Click till you get to folder with pics. Then just drag that folder to wherever you want to save pics, and re-name folder accordingly.

PS...If you have USB ports in the front, get a reader (I think it's the ZIO) with no cords. You just put the card in the little reader, then the reader in one of the front USB ports...

Okay, thanks. I have one of these card readers built-in to my Dell laptop (you just slide the CF card in, and away you go), so I know what you're talking about, I believe. I just need an external version of the same thing for my desktop, it sounds like. I do have front USB ports. And, $15, I can definitely live with!

--Thanks again, Mike.

Hey, thanks again. I'll give it a shot, as I can wait a few days for shipping. (Nice to see what they look like, too.)
