Default Screen issue / Dot vs. Pixels?!

first time i read panasonic dmc-tz7 has 460k screen i tought it is almost 800x600=480k pixels and i just couldn't believe that.

than i checked out my camera (panasonic dmc-fx35) and find out that it has a 230k screen. but my camera has (aprox) 320x240 screen (as far as i can see) but it equals 76800.

so there must be a difference between dots and pixels right?

here is my aproximate convertion first one is 320x240px and second one is ~450x338px

is there certain way to convert dot term into pixel?

For each red dot, there's also a green dot and a blue dot, and the combination of those three dots is a single pixel.

Because 460K sounds better than 450x338, just like 10MP sounds better than 3648x2736.
