Default Leica vs. Carl Zeiss

I'm wondering what are the opinions of people on Leica vs. Carl Zeiss lenses in comparable cameras. In other words, how would the result compare in something like a Panasonic Lumix GF1 with a Leica lens to that of a Sony A550 with a Carl Zeiss, assuming settings are the same, including automatic. (I think these are more or less comparable cameras although I know the GF1 isn't technically a dSLR).

I'll say that the difference between the GF1 and the A550 far surpasses the difference between Leica lenses and Zeiss lenses. Leica v. Zeiss is splitting hairs, while GF1 v. A550 is dissecting philosophies, perhaps even religions.

Thanks to both -- for structuring my logic, particularly!

When looking at the GF1 and the A550, there are lots of reasons to pick one over the other, but glass isn't one of them.
