Default experts please

I recently bought a sony hx1 and am having an issue with printing pictures. The camera takes good photos and I primarily just use it on the intelligent auto setting. When viewing the pics on my computer they look nice and sharp, good color and all that. However when I try to print them I get these horizontal line artifacts no matter the color, lighting and other factors. I did a test (I also have a canon s2 is) and set up the same shot for both cameras. The printed photo from the canon was fine but that same photo had the line artifacts in it from the sony. Can anybody help me with this or did I just get a lemon camera?

Do you see the lines when looking at 100%?

Could it be you need to clean the printer head?

I get horizontal lines on my photo prints whenever the jets on the print head of my ink-jet printer get blocked. I use the printer utilities to check the nozzle and if needed then run the clean the head utility as many times as required checking after each clean (run a print off) until the heads are cleaned.

Another possibility is that the photo is interlaced and needs to be de-interlaced in you PP software before printing

What are your camera settings for size and quality? If you have set the camera to small size and lower quality, this could cause what you are experiencing.

Default lines

thanks guys for you responses....

These lines only appear when I print the photo (at 4x6 or 8x10), they do not appear when I have them in any photo editing software at any magnification. I did test prints from old pic's from my computer and they come out great, I also did a test shot with a canon that came out great (from the printer). Then when I tried to print the sony pic's, I had the line artifacts. This lead me to believe I could rule out the printer. Tried printing from the card reader in the printer, from a card reader in a usb port on computer, and from the camera connected directly to the computer. Printed photos give me the same line artifacts no matter how connected. But if I print photos from other cameras, the prints are fine. Also, made sure my camera setting was on 9mp setting and it happens flash, no flash, indoor, outdoor, etc. Am I overlooking something? Does that type of camera always require post processing? Any more info would be greatly appreciated and again thanks for your help.

There is also a quality setting involved. Even at the 9mp, if the quality setting is low, it could cause something like you are getting.
Don't know why there would be incompatibility with your printer, but try having photo printed somewhere else.

I will try all suggestions and hopefully things work out...if not I am still within my return/exchange policy so if worst comes to worst I may have to take that route...again thanks for all your suggestions...

Hmmm... could it be that you need an upgraded driver from Sony? Sounds like a software bug.
