Default Which Media Writes Faster

Which memory card is faster in terms of Write Speed, The Compact Flash or the Smart Media.
Also I would like to know if the speed was dependent on the Media manufacturer as well (of the same capacity media ).

If you're just taking snapshots don't worry about it. it only comes into play in video/movie or @ shooting at high frame rate and you exceed the camera internal buffer...

... and smjs is also right. Camera manufacturers don't implement the full ATA specs, but otimize the camera's internal buffer with read/write cycles that maximize batteries life!

The same Read/Write speed from the same identical card varies from one camera manufacturer to another (ditto for the microdrive). If you want to see how fast a flash card (or a microdrive) is, move several large files with the flashcard in the laptop where the true ATA interface is implemented! This is also why the microdrive get hot in some camera and cool in others... (ie It's burning hot in a laptop!)
