Default The London Eye, whats it like for photography?

Hi,

I will be going to London soon and will be taking my DSLR which I purchased very recently. I enjoy photographing London and want to know what experiences people have had photographing from the London Eye. I presume it offers a good view but is the glass clean enough to photograph through?

You can photograph from it - the glass should be clean enough - but there are other challenges. You will get reflections off the glass and it's curved so expect some distortion. Also, other than to let disabled passengers on/off, the eye moves continuously and you just go round once so not a lot of time to look around. It would be really worth googling for images others have taken from the eye to get a feel for what is possible, so you can be ready to catch the view you want - unless you want to queue up for a second ride.

I would use a cpl to help reduce the reflection of shooting through the glass, parliament and big ben are easy shots form the eye. And shooting the themes is always nice, and tower bridge. And with a tele, you can get the Belfast from a birds eye view.
