Default What do you do with the annoying straps?

I have a Tamrac Expedition Backpack for my gear. The inside is fine but the outside, I have straps hanging everywhere. I have tried tucking them in but they just work loose.

How do you deal with straps hanging? Cut them? Tack them with needle & thread?

If you are not using them, tape them down. If you are using them, a safety pin works well.

Depends on what straps you are talking about and whether you plan on adjusting them. The Lowepro Slingshot has an elastic band around the shoulder strap that you can use around the excess. On other bags I've used duct tape on straps I didn't plan on adjusting again. On my Kata there's a pad that you can stick excess into, but I'm so small that I had to use a rubber band to keep the strap in place. I want to be able to adjust the shoulder straps depending on the bag's configuration. Another possibility is to use some double sided velcro, where the velcro's soft side is up. Roll or fold the excess up before you tape.

I generally use velcro cable ties. They don't leave that sticky residue that tape does and are easily removed.

Thanks for the responses.

I like the thought of the velcro cable ties. Not as permanent as needle & thread and can be adjusted quickly.
