Default Profile Option For Camera

Would be a good idea if one could see what Camera everyone used as part of the profile under the Avatar on the left.

I notice some forums have the option where you can put what camera you use and it shows under your user name / avatar.

Since a number of us have multiple cameras, it could be a little difficult. There is the option of including it in one's signature file, though. Not all of us enable the signature function, either, or include one. In a lot of cases, the Exif info is included with the pic, and that will have the camera information, as well as exposure data. If you don't have an Exif reader, there are several available which work as plugins in browsers.

Still, be a nice touch to the forums to see what people use as their main Camera

As Brian mentioned - users have the ability to include that information in their signature if they want to do so.

just go to the user control panel and select the edit signature option. as has been mentioned already, not everyone uses signature and not everyone care to list their equipment in the signature.

It might work for poor people like me. I only have two
proper cameras. It wouldn't be an option for some of
of our more affluent friends.

Just for the record: I have a Canon 500D (T1i) and
Panasonic DMC-FZ28. Not counting a few obsolete
P&S cameras like this 1999 Fuji which is still in
good working order.

I have ~40 cameras in working order. (And sometimes I improvise another pinhole light-catcher.) I constantly use ~6 of them; often use another ~6; and occasionally use any of the others. Limiting my identification to just one of these would be false, a gross over-simplification. That display field under my name would have to be a scrolling marquee.

What camera do I use? That's like asking what instrument I play. Well, any of a couple dozen stringed and wind and keyboard axes. So do I spotlight the Ovation 12-string, or grandpa's 1890 banjo-mandolin, or the bamboo sax, or the MiniMoog, or the slide whistle? Or if the question was which I carry with me the most, it's the ocarina that's always in my bag, just like some P&S is always in my pocket. But neither is primary.

One of these days I may put my cam+lens database online, linked from my sig. And my instrumetn database. Or maybe not. Maybe I don't need to brag, to reveal too much. Maybe I'll just lie about it. "My main camera? Oh, it's an Argus C3, The Brick! My main instrument? Taiko drums! Hai!"

Let's reveal what we want to reveal, and nothing else.
