What exactly does "Form Factors" or "Form Factor" means?

The physical size and shape of a device.

a nikon f5 and a canon eos cameras use the slr form factor.

in order to be called a Compactflash device your device must use the cf form factor or design shape, dimensions, and input output array. in short it better fit and be useable in a cf slot. each standard such as smartmedia and memorystick has its own form factor standard.

it is the general shape and dimension standard for recognition, identification, and use.
