Default Posting pics???

I read the FAQ that says in order to post an image, you have to link to a separate URL; however, I have seen many posts where people put the image right in their message. Is this possible? If so, how do I do it? Thanks in advance for clearing up any confusion...

Default posting pics???

This may help. 1. Go to http://www.dpreview.com/
2. Cick on *Forums* 3. Click on *Olympus talk* 4. Click on page 10 at the bottom of page. 5. Click on *Embessing images help* 6. Subject column. 7. Click on *Step right up and I will help you* by Bill Huber. Hope this is what you are looking for.

I listed the steps to the information to give Bill Huber credit for the work he did on this.

OK, I visited the web site, but I'm still confused. Say I have a web site with pics, it is:

www.mypics.com

I get that I would do this:

www.mypics.com/small.jpg (for a small pic)

I am just getting pics up on a web site, so I can't even try this, yet. Also, wouldn't that just show ALL the pics on that page? What if we want to link to one pic on that page? Thanks again...

Amy,

To display one picture here in the forum you would put the link to the file in an IMG tag, so to take your example above, if you do this:
Code:
[img]http://www.mypics.com/small.jpg[/img]
Then your image will be embedded in your message.

Example:

Code:
[img]http://www.jacobfam.net/gallery/albums/Hidden_01/JrAvatar.gif[/img]
Would get you this:

Amy, that is a possibility. some photo sites do not allow you to post pics to forums. i don't know about your photo site. there must be a somewhere on your site that has the rules and regs.
