Default Dropped my Kodak 4530 BUT.............

Everything still works except I can't recharge anymore off my docking station. When you put the camera on the station the green light on the left lights up and acknowleges that the camera is there but the charging of the battery doesn't occur anymore. Here's kinda what I'm getting at. Except for a small ( VERY SMALL ) scratch on the outer frame every option ( as far as taking pitcures and loading them on the puter ) works. When it fell, the jolt threw the battery out and slid across the floor. Is there anyway ( which I don't believe so myself ) that the battery could be affected as a result of hitting the hard kitchen floor and is now damaged, or do you just feel ( as I do ) that the jolt knocked something loose and damaged the recharging capabilities of the camera now? I called Kodak and they are wanting me to send it in after Christmas, but if I can help it I really don't want to wait around 6 weeks to get it back. Man, I guess this is what I get for having butter fingers Saturday night!!

Some proprietary camera batteries have microprocessor regulators inside them to control the charge, sometimes a diode and/or thermistor. Perhaps your camera uses one of these and the more fragile electronic components have broke!

If in doubt try a new battery, if that won't charge it's a component in the camera. You have to be patient to get replies on boards, especially quality one's like this one where we are busy using our cameras, taking pics - and some shooters are still in the land of nod asleep! VOX

Sorry,
Wasn't trying to be impatient if that's the way it came across. Just really racking my brain trying to figure this one out. I just hate to go and "buy" a new battery if that isn't the cause, but sometimes I guess that's why they call it troubleshooting. Thanks for the suggestion.
