Default Absolute black background

Can you advise for a simple and cheap way to get an absolute black background? A background that admits some abuse. I was told velvet can help. I can play with settings and levels but always have to "clean" the background from dust and small white spots:

Broken glass

Thanks.

Black craft paper also has a textured enough surface to look pretty good as a b/g. The dust and white specks seem to be attracted to black surfaces. Sometimes, wiping the surface down with a slightly damp cloth just before shooting, can help.

I will try it. If you look at the pick under Dark Theme you will see it's far from being a death black background and you can see the clonning artifacts. It sucks, really...
