Default I need a cam with hot shoe and ext flash @ a good price.

Ok, the experts are right. Unless I get a camera with a hot shoe and external flash, I will be stuck with red eye issues.

After 3 tries with internal flash, all with unacceptable red eye, I concede that I have to do something different.

My problem is a camera with a hot shoe and an ext flash really blows the budget. The renowned Olympus FL-40 (if you can find it) costs as much as I wanted to spend for a camera ($375). Add that to a $450 - $550 camera, and I can just about buy a Canon DSLR! Doesn't seem right somehow.

Is there a decent camera with hot shoe and ext flash at a reasonable price point? I prefer Canon and Olympus, but am open to others.

Thanks for looking.

Default

I purchase the Nikon 5700 for $600 after $100 rebate. I then purchased a Nikon Speedlight off ebay for $100. The result were excellent pictures without Red Eye. There are better flashes for the 5700 but they will run under $200. The two that I can think of are the Speedlight 50 and 80.
