Default cannon EF lens connect to...

i'am compter geek, camera dummy.
gramps camera geek, computer dummy.

my grandpa has a Cannon A2E film camera and a old cannon rebel for black and white pictures with lens / filters that fit both cameras.

after seeing my sony dsc-f707 camera he got a cheap digital camera to see how it worked. now that he understands what digital can do he wants to get a good digital camera price range 1000-2000 dallors. He wants to use this current lens and filters with the new digital camera.

from looking both his cammers use the cannon EF lens mount. if he bought another manufactor say, sony, fuji, olmpus, etc.. can he get a convertor / adaptor for his current lenses/filters?

i have attempted to research the answer but get lost some were along the line. with connecting to body to extensions to conversions to types etc..

thx in advance.
ryan.

You want the Canon Digital Rebel

Read about it here:

If an adapter existed, B&H Photo Video or adorama would sell it. That is where I'd search first.

Why buy an adapter? If he has EF lenses, they'll fit Canon dSLR cameras. He has choices of the DRebel at $899, the 10D at $1499, the 1D at around $3000, or the 1Ds at around $8000.

I'm sorry, I guess I was thinking of the AE1.... I believe that is an FD mount. You are correct, all modern Canon SLR & DSLR use the EF mount.

I don't know where my brain was.
