Default 5mil picture v 3.2 mil picture

hi sorry im new here
i just wanted to no if im printing pictures of 6x8 or 7x5 am i wasting my money on a 5mil pix camera?can i get the same picture out of the 3.2 mil pix camera

for 4x6 prints 3.2 megpixels is fine. for 5x7 3.2 megapixels should be all you need. but, you need to remember that if you crop any pictures then you may lose the resolution you need for the 5x7 prints.

so if i had 2 prints side by side one 3.2 mil other 5mil at 6x4 you wouldnt be able to tell the differance? thank you

i couldn't tell the difference on a full frame print. but, if it was cropped quite a bit i could.

Hotdog, My print standard from the labs until they do better is 300dpi. So if you multiply the print size in inches each way by 300 and then both results together, you roughly get the Mpix. But as was said, for cropping you need some more. Cheers VOX
