Default Prayer for Japan

Steve,

Can we organize a prayer for Japan, for the peace of those departed and for the recovery of those who suffered injury and losses in the recent calamity that has struck Japan? Japan has given so much to photography - Panasonic, Nikon, Fuji and more....

Willing members can join prayer from wherever they are, at a stipulated universal time.

I am not sure if this is within the scope of the forum.

Please give it some thought.

Raghu

No offense, but I doubt prayers will do any good !

I acknowledge that praying does offer mental comfort -oh, you see, I've done something for the victims-, but it's definitely not enough in situations like these !

On the other hand, I'm sure small donations would be very welcome > 10 $/ each of us !

I am burdened for Japan and I truly hope it will overcome this tragedy and come out even stronger !

Raghu,

I (as an individual, not representing Steve's) think this is a great idea, and would love to participate. I'm going to move this thread into the General Discussion forum, and we can see if more members would like to join.

While I think we all have our right to believe whatever we want, I find your post a bit offensive; even while you added "No offense".

This thread WILL NOT turn into a religious debate, otherwise it will be locked and deleted.

If you want to participate and add your input on a time and date for prayer, then please respond. If you are going to be negative in any way, shape, or form STAY OUT!

Also, if you want to make a thread in the General Discussion forum about banding together to send donations, that would be fine. However, I will not mix the two.

I think both prayers and donations are in order. This is a terrible disaster for the Japanese people, and I am sure they welcome both financial and spiritual assistance.

I've been talking to God since this happened. Maybe He can hear me over all the others. If you can't find a place to directly donate, know that your taxes will find their way to Japan. God bless those people.

No offence taken, and I am happy that the call for prayer has triggered a call for donation - that's the power of prayer! Let's hope something materialises soon.

So far the U.S. has been lucky. No major earthquakes of the magnitude of Japan or Haiti, and no Tsunamis. They seem to be getting more common these days. When I was growing up in the fifties and sixties, we never heard of a Tsunami. Now many countries are getting them. I guess the earth is rolling around in bed and fluffing the pillow. Let's hope things quieten down for the next fifty years or so...

It's neither the 'call to prayer' or the prayer itself that triggered the call for a donation...

It was triggered solely by human compassion/empathy !
