Default Cheaper camera with excellent macro

Hi all, I'm looking for purchase (for the business) a camera with excellent macro capability. It will be used virtually exclusively for macro work (warranty and machine issues), so the requirement for optical zoom is little. Resolution 3MP+. Usage EASY. These guys want virtual point and shoot and not to have to educate themselves on camera usage

Any suggestions? I've read a lot about various cams on this forum with excellent macro capability which however also have decent size zooms etc, and can get pretty $$$$$.

With a focus on the macro capability, what should we purchase? All suggestions welcome

The Nikon 4300 is a great choice. 4MP, great macros, easy to use, and just over $300. http://www.steves-digicams.com/2002_...nikon4300.html

Any member of the Nikon Coolpix line will be perfect for you. As has been said, the 4300 is great, or if you want to save some money, you can pick up a new Nikon 3100 for $299.

I don't know what you mean by "cheap". You may want to look at some of the factory reconditioned Nikons at this link:

For the best macros, I'd look for a used "swivel bodied" Nikon. These have the best macro modes by far (even compared to other Nikons).

Look for deals on the Nikon Coolpix 950, 990, 995, or 4500 if you want the "best" macro performance you can find.

Default Nikon always seemed to have the best macro.

I wish Nikon was still producing the swivel body camera. The 4500 takes great shots. It seemed to be ahead of its time. Maybe if we complained enough they would listen and make a 5500!!! 5MP swivel body great macro camera with a 640x480 movie mode. One can only dream.
