Default Authorized Dealer/Warranty Issues - How To Find Out?

Authorized Dealer/Warranty Issues - How To Find Out?

Does anyone know how I can find out if an on-line retailer is an authorized dealer for Fuji Cameras?

There seems to be some discussion (on another board) as to whether or not there may be "warranty" issues associated with this issue.

Also, if I order from a Canadian on-line retailer, and the camera is shipped from the USA, that might negate any warranty as well.
I believe that a warranty is only valid in the country of manufacture so a US Warranty would not be valid in Canada.

Yes? No? Any comments?

Thanks,

James

I would call Fuji and ask them these questions.

Default Thanks

I thought of that after posting. I found the Fuji Canada web site and sent them an e-mail. Hopefully I will get an answer.

Thanks!

Default Got An Answer From Fuji

Here is their reply:
----------------------------------
Dear James,

Thank you for your e-mail. Tiger Direct is not a Canadian authorized Dealer and warranty is not valid through Fuji Canada. To receive valid one year warranty from Fuji Canada, the purchase must be made by a Canadian authorized Dealer. For a listing please visit our web-site at http://www.fujifilm.ca and select "where to buy".

They didn't reply to the 2nd part, but it is obvious that the
warranty would also be invalid in Canada for cameras shipped
from the USA to Canada.

James

P.S. Probably applies to any Camera company. So if anyone is planning on buying on line, I strongly suggest you inquire about the validity of warranties as it pertains to authorized dealers and where the goods are shipped from for any brand of Camera and equipment.
