Default Flash Gun Buying Guide

Hi

I have Canon 7d with 17-55mm f2.8 lens. Now I want to inquire about FLASH GUN.

Personally I like Canon 580EXII, but its cost is US$450+. Some people suggest me to go for cheap flash units from some other brands and they will also work. I need it for Studio, outdoor shoot, events. Now I am confused.

Even If I go for Canon 430EXII which is approximately half the price of 580EXII then may be I feel that why I go for this.

So kindly suggest me that what are the benefits of purchasing Canon 580EXII as compared to the cheap flash guns.

Thanks

The 580EX II is bigger and more powerful than the 430EX II. The 580EX II
can also be used as a wireless master. I have the 430EX II and I find that
it has enough power for my needs.

If you need the extra power, go with the 580EX II or one of the
alternatives from Metz or Nissin. The Nissin Di866, Metz 58 AF-1
and 58 AF-2 usually get rave reviews.

I don't think there is much risk involved in buying a lower
power flash as long as it has wireless suport. You can buy
a 430EX II (or two) now and add a 580EX II as a wireless master
at some time in the future if you feel the need for more power.
