Favourite Lenses (as opposed to Most Used) is actually quite a difficult question because it depends on what you like to shoot most ... and if you have a very varied collection of subjects then the list is long !

In no particular order :
Pentax 43/1.9 Ltd
Voigtlander 50/1.8
Pentax DA*300/4
SMC Takumar 50/1.4
Sigma 30/1.4
Tamron 90/2.8 di Macro

Those are the lenses I enjoy working with the most, as opposed to those I use the most (which are all zooms).

I'm now looking around for a used D700 to add FF to the Pentax K5, especially for the ease of achieving low DoF, so any recommendations for Nikon mount portrait, street and landscape lenses (not much more than $1k each) would be appreciated !

I'm also looking at a whole list of older Zeiss, Voigtlander and Leica that can be converted to PK or Nikon mounts ! And wondering how I'm going to be able to afford them

.... and I'm infatuated with the Voigtlander 15mm f/4.5 Heliar, though I don't have it or even own a camera it would fit (as a rangefinder lense it's registration distance is just too short) ! LBA is sad isn't it.

My favorite lens is the one that happens to be on the camera when I'm using it.

And no, I'm not trying to be a smart a--. It's just that I use different lenses for different purposes - as many of us do.

So, my list of lenses is as follows:

Olympus 12-60mm SWD for: wide angle, landscape, scenics

Olympus 50-200mm Ed for: birds in flight, telephoto zoom

Sigma 150mm f2.8 macro for: macro

Olympus micro 9-18mm for: landscapes, scenics, waterscapes

Minoltas Rokkor 50mm f1.4 (manual focus) for portraits shallow dof.

The lenses I currently find most rewarding to use are my 100-400 zoom when mounted on my crop-sensor camera, and my 12-24 zoom when mounted on my FF camera. I intend to buy a 100mm macro lens and I suspect that will also become a favoured lens on the FF camera. These aren't the lenses I use most, but the ones that give me the biggest "buzz".

Favorite lenses Canon 24-105mm f4, nice all around focal length for most everything that I find to shoot. Also like my 10-22mm lens for the wide shots.

The one I seem to use lately is my 24-70. Moving to a non IS was a big step but I am enjoying the challenge. I don't have a truly steady hand. My next favourite, is my 70-200 F4 Is and my other favourite is my 15-85 as my walk about in the city lens.

I upgraded from the kit lens to the 24-105L on my aps-c body. The fast focus, sharp, constant f stop, wide focal range makes this my go-to lens for most activities.

I have a 24-105L but don't use it on my crop body. There I use the 15-85.

And I think the most important characteristic of the 24-105L is that it is parfocal rather than that it has a constant f no. It's a shame that the 15-85 isn't as well, because in all other respects it's a superb lens.

Is that really of any value in a lens that is not being used for video, or do you take video with it?
