Default Airline travel

This will be my first time flying with my new canon 550D. I have a backpack type camera bag. It it ok to put the digital camera thru the scanner prior? Also do you travel with your tripod? how do you take that with you? I was thinking of putting it in my suitcase, however that is a carry on to.

Thanks : )

I fly all the time, no problems with the scanners. tripod is best pack with the check luggage.

I was afraid you were gonna say to check my luggage. I am flying standby and not able to check my luggage. I hate hassles. maybe buy a new tripod and had it shipped home " )

the tripod can be a issue at some airports with the screener. especially with larger size ones.

even when flying standby, you can check bags. If you make the flight, they load your bags, if you do not. The bags do not fly without you.

they only thing with standby at times is they accept you really late, your bag flies on the next flight. And they bring it to where you are staying.
