Default memory card question

In my Panasonic FZ50 I have a 4 GB san disc ultra 2 memory card and was wondering if I would be better off using an extreme 111 card, even a 1 GB (one since I would never fill it). I am having no trouble at all, but I am just curious to know the advantage , if any. Comments anyone?

Faster cards allow you to capture longer, uninterrupted video clips, and longer bursts of still images.

But only if your camera can keep up. If the transfer rate of the camera is slower than the card's, you will not see a performance increase.
The fastest super duper CF card available won't make any difference to my *istD.

Yes. There's always a bottleneck somewhere. Usually it's the card, but sometimes it's the camera.
