Default Unidentified icon

On the bottom right hand corner of my viewfinder is a small square with a star in its top right corner, all the other icons are easy to identify but this one has me beat, the camera is a Panasonic FZ50, If anyone knows what it is please let me know, the book does not mention it, nor do the reviews for this model.

Hi Grounded,
I haven't got the FZ50 but I do have a FZ7 and it has this symbol.
On my FZ7 it means "power LCD".Which when it is selected "on" adjusts the brightness of the LCD according to ambient light.
You neee to go into Menu and select "power LCD" then select off , that should get rid of it but it would be more useful to leave it on imho.
Hope this helps.

On that point ,I recently messed up several shots due to my FZ7 lens hood rotating 90 degrees, therefore appearing in the corners of all the shots .I was shooting an action sequence so I didn't check them whilst shooting.(difficult to clone out as they were over a lot of detail).
The hood on the FZ7 is held by a small screw which comes loose easily.
