If that works the same way as my old Samsung laser, the cartridge that comes with the printer is half filled so it is cheaper to buy the new cartridge. By old I mean pushing ten years and still kicking. Best way to print documents, letters, and other stuff that requires no color nor fine gray scale gradations. No good for photos.
One cost of printing your own color photos is the cost of learning how to use the printer. Experiments with combinations of paper and ink can run into enough to cover the cost of pro printing UNLESS
you are going to print a lot.
How many big prints can you really use? How often can you bring out the photo album without chasing off everyone? If you are good enough, you will be making money from your photography. Otherwise, why spend more money on your hobby than you have to?
