Default Olympus TG-810 waterproof maintenance

Hi.

Olympus recommends to change the waterproof kit and seals once a year.

Does anyone know if it's really necessary? Case no, how ofen it's good to change that? How much is it?

Thank you.

I don't know about that camera but I have had an Olympus SW1050 since early 2009 I believe and its been in the rain, through 2 snow blizzards etc and have not had one single issue. I'm not one bit worried its gonna leak or have issues. But then again I have not tried to flood my camera or used it under water (i.e. in a pond or lake)

My best guess would be to follow the recommendation, if you use it underwater. If you have it just to be rain-and-splash proof, then it isn't as important. Most elastomers tend to 'dry out' over time, and harden somewhat, so the sealing could leak.

Hi, thank you for helping me.

I think it's a good idea to change the seals, but I confess that the period recommended for Olympus is too often.

Probably if you use it underwater almost every month it's a good idea to follow that recommendation. But if you do eventually, maybe it's good for you pocket to flexible that.

Anyway, I'm afraid to support my thinking and ending up losing the cam.

Regards,
Gustavo
