Default How is photo of the day chosen?

I'm wondering how the POTD is chosen?? Not criticizing choices, just wondering where a good photo should "appear" for consideration!
Thanks~

Wes James,

Our staff chooses the PotD from the photos submitted by users/readers of Steve's.

If you go to our PotD page you will see an Enter option in the left navigation area. This will allow you to upload an image to be considered for a daily PotD winner.

Good luck!

Thanks, Billy-
I went to attempt to upload a photo, and the crop option was already cropping my photo... perhaps it's too large an image at 1500x1000 pixels/308K?

No, the crop feature is for the Main page at Steve's. You are cropping a thumbnail that will be displayed on our main page. The photo itself will be displayed on our forums and the PotD page in the same aspect that you upload it; automatically resized to fit.

It can be confusing for new users, and we are working on some updates to make this more user friendly moving forward.

Great! Thanks so much for the assistance, Billy! Makes perfect sense, now.

Hey Wes.

Billy and I discussed this issue, and he asked me if I could post a new "Sticky" Thread in the POTD Forum with a better explanation of how the Crop Feature works when submitting a photo for POTD consideration (which sounded like a great idea, as we do see confusion about how that works from time to time). See the new thread here:

How to enter a photo for POTD Consideration

Please let us know if that doesn't explain the process well enough.

Thanks.

Default Perfect!

I saw that item as I was looking back for a response to this thread. Perfect! I looked around before, and couldn't really figure out how to enter... now, it's perfectly clear- Thanks!! I'm sure many other newbies will profit from that sticky.
