Default Taking newborn pix

Im expecting my 1st grandson the week after Christmas. In anticipation of it, Santa is giving me a new Tamron 18-50 2.8 lens. I also bought a "Light Sphere" for my flash. Any tips to take photos of newborns in a hospital settings?

Talk to the hospital folks before you fire off the flash. Likely no problem, but tis better to ask.

Keep in mind that all newborns look like Winston Churchill or J. Edger Hoover. No camera can do much about that so spend time trying to capture the expressions of mom/dad/grandma/... more than ones of the infant.
