I'd use this fantastic machine to edit and photos of all my kids and their sports/teams and other memory making moments as well as my garden shots of everything from insects to landscapes. Not like my husband buys me any cool toys. :P

It would definitely be nice to have a lot more additional speed and headroom for working with my photos!

I would LOVE to use this computer for learning photoshop and lightroom. I was searching the market to get a good computer with brilliant processing power but it is wayy out of my reach. i was planning to settle for a lesser model but if I get this, I would be elated!

I'm surprised to see so many people with 512 ram and an old Dell dimension out there. I thought I was the only one. There are many things I would like to do in Photoshop but the processing time gets frustrating, consequently I have hundreds of photos waiting to be "developed". I also do web development and run an Apache web server with PHP and MySql.
This sweet deal would sure speed up development for anyone (hopefully me).
I can then work on HDR and do some pano's, these features just take too long to process to use effectively (not to mention focus stacking). It would open an entirely new world for my photography.

Out of the camera shots are not bad as processing goes (shameless plug, http://forums.steves-digicams.com/ph...ree-gnome.html) but I want to delve into some of the features I can't use currently.

BTW, I clicked like on Steve's digicams about a year ago, should I unlike and then like again?

I just looked it up and my dell is a couple months shy of ten years old.

I would love to replace my old XT since I only have 512K of ram and a 10 mb hard drive it is very hard to use Photoshop to its fullest potential.

Just kidding, but after reading the specs of the new computer I remember my first xt and what computers were like back in the 80s. When I got my first 286 I thought I was flying. Corel was on 1 disk and it was amazing the things we could barely do.

But with PS, >10MB camera files, HD video and more it puts a real strain on my 4 year old DELL. So yes this would definitely allow for greater editing freedom. Good luck to all.
