I've never enjoyed anything but hand-me-down computers from my kids. In fact, the machine I'm on writing this post is the one I use for all my digital editing work, It's a 7 year old HP Pavillion with a 2.93GHz Celeron processor, 512Mb of RAM and a 31Gb hard drive. I have to stop/restart the Firefox browser every day because the memory leak slowly kills what little performance (and I use the term lightly) I have. The system doesn't support DVI either, so I'm still using a 21 inch CRT monitor. The work with my 4 cameras has been limited because of my system's limitations and the fear that it won't power on one day soon. It doesn't even support USB 2.0, so when I do back up my picture files to a thumb drive it takes hours. I dream of having a new system like this to enhance my digital photography work, my ability to backup and protect my images and one that I can say is mine and not someone's old has been system.

Thanks!

Wow,

this machine would be exactly the right thing for me. I would immediately install the oneiric ocelot and ban windows to a virtual machine (you never know if you might need it somewhen). Then i would choose fresh installaions of RawTherapee and the Gimp to set up a good workflow. I already run those on my current computer which is already a little aged but the word run does not seem appropriate anymore for any software on this machine, especially when handling files from my 7D

Hey, i could even do video editing with that monster. Please give it to me.

Default big prints

if i win this, i would be using this to make super mega pixel photos with so much detail that you can see 3D in a regular 2D image!

I would use this to replace my older computer. It has a 3.5" floppy and no front USB. I would definately take advantage of the faster processor to zip through hd video editing. Thanks for the chance at this awesome computer!
