Default I will never do this with my camera case/bag/pack again

I'll never again put my camera inside it's case without closing the case immediately after loading.

Was packing for an overnight trip. Everything I was taking was in a pile on the bed ready for me to put in one of two bags. Picked up my P&S case by the bottom, swung my upper body around to put it in a small backpack and watched in horror as my camera sailed out of the case in slow motion. I'd taken the camera out to photograph the pile, then replaced without zipping the case shut for some reason.

Lucky for me it landed on an upholstered chair.

Lucky, indeed. That could have been an expensive lesson. Hope your camera has Image Stabilization, because I know that I would have been shaking for a while after that.

It's not a matter of if your camera will fall out of the camera bag but when. Has happen to me twice, both times I was lucky and no real damage to the cameras.

Were you ever lucky! I haven't had the camera fall out of the bag, but I've had a lens fall out twice. It's now decentered and I really should send it in to see if I can get it repaired. It's too expensive a lens to not at least try to get it repaired.

I dropped my P&S a number of times. It was a Fuji XP10. I think I nearly had a heartache when I lifted my DSLR backpack and the backcover fell open. It contained my all my lenses, flashes and bodies. Fortunately, I only got an inch or two off the floor when it happened.
