I'm on my Win 7 machine now, and it would work the way you describe it. I seem to remember that XP uses the date/time modified, rather than the original date/time, and since Dave was going to edit some before uploading, I think this would mess up the convention using XP. Not completely sure, as my memory is like a sieve, but that is why I recommended Irfanview, as it has the flexibility to deal with these contingencies.

In XP, you can add columns to the Detail view, and sort by clicking on that column header, so that won't be a problem. But Photo 5 would have to know about it.

I was using two camera and switched back and forth from time to time, so I got the first 60 on or so one camera and the next 30 were on the second camera etc.. I had over 1,000 total photos. Irfanview did the trick in getting everything to go in order. It was an extra step but it did the trick.
