the camera delays on it's own accord until the focus is right
I wonder if my camera does this. I'll have to check.

Edit: No, it doesn't, and the reason for this is that the camera is set up to give taking a picture priority over everything else. This is a plus when it comes to getting the picture that will be gone in the next fraction of a second; it isn't a plus when you're having one of those days when your trigger finger is heavier than lead. Trade-offs, always trade-offs.

I read a set of posts on a different forum about how the Canon DSLRs in focusing tracking mode make the first picture be picture priority and the rest of the burst will be focus priority. Someone was asking any canon can't do it the way Nikon does, which is focus priority all the time.

It's interesting to see that problem played out in other cameras.

It's probably less a problem and more a quality that should be considered when choosing a camera. For my purposes, photo-first-focus-second works admirably because of my photographic methods, but for other people, it could easily become a royal pain.

I wonder if people who have used film SLRs for years are more likely to still want the burden of focus to lie with them. It was this that made me choose the E-20. I hear tell that the Fuji FinePix S-2 is another one that fits nicely in the hands of former SLR users.
