Have you heard about this gigapixel camera.

Interesting - note the comment about the lens - it appears they have simplified the optical system by placing the sensors in a spherical array.

between these huge pixel array cameras that would allow you to take a huge picture and zoom in later and the light field cameras that allow focus point to be chosen later the photography world may be vastly different in 10 years time.
