Default Camera despatch to abroad

I just arrived as a new member, for I have a problem with buying a camera in the U.S. I tried heaps of on line stores but no one seems to deliver abroad (I am from Australia). Does anybody know an address? Thanks a lot, Henk.

Unfortunately this is a problem for most people outside the US. Most online vendors claim they ship overseas, but the fine print means you have to go to alot of trouble for the priviledge - eg. fax your credit card, passport, license, powerbill (to confirm your address, etc) just for an order... then they charge you $200 for shipping a $50 item. Or in one case I've experienced - pay by US postal money order. (*Hint: if you're not in the US, you can't get US postal money orders!!)

As for why not buy in Australia - even grey imports into this country costs 3x as much as typical US prices.

I don't always think that is the case, a close friend of mine spent over a year in USA and purchased a digital camera over there. She checked the prices out here as well and there was not that much of a difference. her husband got one in asia and that was heaps cheaper than the USA or australia. By the time one pays all the import fees and postage fees, you may as well support your own country. also I would rather deal with someone in person if you have problems with the camera than sending it overseas for repair.

G'day schuthof in oz!

Welcome to the forum

I suggest you email some of the vendors mentioned on this
forum.

They may have a way to help you.

Good luck
