Default Am I nuts or just a photo addict?.

Am I nuts or just a photo addict?. (an old mans ramblings, sorry)
At first you will think thats a stupid question but think about it.
I have been a keen photographer for a very long time.
I have got cupboards full of albums , boxes and boxes full of packets of them from my film days, now I have got a computer, + extra hard drive,+ memory sticks with thousands of them.
All taken with the greatest of care to my best ability. The ones that get looked at from time to time are usually the family or friends pics, sometimes the old holiday pics get pulled out.
The beatiful ones of the Heron snatching a fish from the surface of the water that I was very proud of gets ignored. No one except me looks at them and thinks mmm! F2.8 @ 1/500th what a great shot! or look at that for a low light shot.
This is where the professional scores, he gets paid.
When I finally depart from my mortal coils I imagine 95% of them will go into the recycle bin.
The only answer I can come up with, is I just love fiddling about and getting a good (for me ) result, personal satisfaction.
So the idea of a camera that did every thing automatically for me would remove all that I get from photography.
Strangely I cant wait to get my next camera. Dohhh!!

It takes a photographer to appreciate the more technical aspects of photography.
You should post a few shots in the post-your-photos forums.

If you post them here, they may be around long after you are gone.
Hopefully both yourself and steves-digicams will be around for a long time.

There is a lot to be said for that.

My best friend took pictures all the time. He was always with a small compact camera. When he died at the back of the room was a table set up with thousands of photos everyone was encouraged to sort through and take what they wanted. What wasnt taken was dumped in the garbage. For the most part people were only interested in pics which included themselves. So the only appreciation is by the photographer. A frame of a memory of interest to no one. If you elect for cremation, take the pics with you.

I guess that why I post some of my stuff on flicker. Not that many people look, fewer still probably actually care, but at least some people look.
