Default Which Canon zoom lens is best - 75-300mm or 55-250mm?

I want to buy a zoom lens for my Canon T1i - which is a better lens - the 75-300mm or 55-250mm?

Without a doubt, the 55-250 is better than the 75-300, in every respect.

I fully agree, no contest, the 55-250 is a long way ahead!

G'day fellas

Okay - the money is on the 55-250 .... why? what makes it the better lens? and how does the 2 prices compare? [all for a non-canon fella who's after general knowledge]

Regards, Phil

Pretty much it's sharper and with less CA so all round a nicer piece of glass. The 75-300 is probbably worst lens Canon currently sell.
