Best ferry photo that I never got was...

I was on the ferry in WA state to Clinton (Whidbey Island).
Camera was in my car.

It was the early 1980s.

Two A-6 Intruders appeared otta nowhere! (God bless
terrain avoidance radar) and BLEW by on Port and
Starboard sides of the ferry...about 20 feet off the
deck...close enough to see the pilots' moustache if
I had been looking...

Holy F__ was the general, dazed look on the passengers followed
by a verbalized muse..."What the F___ was THAT???"

This was in the "pre PC" era...

When...

Outside the Whidbey Island NAS gate was a sign that stated:

"Pardon our noise. It is the sound of freedom."

The sign, sadly, was subsequently removed.

I love that area. I was stationed at Whidbey during the 60's and I have been back several times (I work for the Navy). I have a son in Olympia and we have been to Whidbey via the ferry and via Deception Pass.

Yeah, I've only driven through Whidbey. I'd like to stop and take in the sights.

note: i am wrong alot, so if i am wrong about this, please dont call me stupid :

Well I'll leave you to be the judge of your mental capacity.

Ferries travel on the ocean. Cross-channel ferries from England to France, my onw local ferries that go to the holiday islands off the coast.

There are many salty rivers, estuaries. and inlets that are plied by ferries frequently.
