I think in the end this is Steve's forum. And as the big logo at the top dictates, this is "Steve's DigiCams". A forum about digital camera's.

Personally, if I wanted to talk about cars or food, I would look elsewhere, not a digicam forum.

I think it is a good idea, just the wrong place...

i have a good idea!!!!

stephen......make a forum of your own (there are some places you can get a free one) you can admin it....and we could have a link to it!!!

i'm brilliant i know
lol

but that way you can still have an off topic forum....and steves people can go to it....but they won't post in steves forums!!!

I think if the forum is of some interest to some people then it is ok to go ahead with!

I mean, I have no interest in digiscoping, so I do not look in that forum!

Some people are being very negative about something which does not even exist yet. This is why I said we should have a TRIAL run with this. Not a forum that will be present for all of time!!

Regards,

Steve

I agree with Vito. If you have a great idea for a forum, then you should create your own. That is the beauty of the Internet. It allows you to bring your ideas to life and meet many different people.

I don't think we are being negative. I think most of us just think this should remain a digicam forum. You may not be interested in digiscoping, but digiscoping is part of digital photography. Is it not?

I think you should go for it and create your own forum. You will probably have tons of visitors from around the world (including Steve's).

Well the percentages so far:

-For: 36%
-Against: 64%

Now if we are honest, there are a lot of forums here at Steve's that are visited by less than 36 % of the people!

And NO person here can say that an off-topic forum will be bad, just the same way that I CAN'T say it will be good!

So lets just give it a trial!!!!

I agree that there are a lot of forums within this site that don't get visited by all. But that is the beauty of a forum. You come to the site for digital photography information and you can pick and choose what you wish to look at regarding that subject.

You don't really go to Microsoft's forums for information on Taco Bell and you don't go to Pepsi's forums for Apple Juice information. IMHO.

I am curious, what is the whole driving force in wanting a non-digicam forum?

But I am sure that on the Microsoft and Pepsi forums you can easily disuss things which do not relate to microsoft or pepsi!!!!

I am not saying that any topics here are of no use. In fact I said that different forums appeal to different people.

And some people here would like an off-topic forum. And some people see no need for an off-topic forum.

I think every forum should have a place to discuss non-related items.. Topics like this for instance would belong in the off topic forum....

We are now 42% in favour of an off-topic forum..........
