Default If you had $2500...

What would you purchase? I am considering the Canon D10, the Nikon D70, or the Nikon 8700 Coolpix. I'd get some larger cards/lenses with the change...but I just can't decide.

I know that there are many experts out there that would know how to spend $2500...guide me?

If it were US dollars, heck - I'll get two D70's!

A external battery pack for camera & flash
A Better Beamer
Off camera Flash bracket & sync cord
A few large CF cards (1g? 2g?)
A week-long trip to Cape May, N.J. during spring/fall migration.

Now if it was twice that much, I'd use it as a down payment on a 600mm.

I would get the Canon A10 if I were spending that kind of money. I have used a stabilized lens with my FZ10 and will never again own a large camera that doesn’t have stabilization. Canon is ahead in stabilized lenses for SLR and DSLR and until that changes I would stick with the Canon. The small downside of DSLR is that it is hard to find a stabilized medium wide angle in the 28-35mm range or even in “normal” lens ranges. That allows you to shoot at amazingly low shutter speeds handheld.

Of the prosumer cameras on the market I think I would wait for reviews on the Minolta A2. Besides stabilization it has a nice big SLR type manual zoom, 28mm wide angle, lots of physical controls and far and away the best EVF available.

This Mountain Girl is originally from the Appalachians and I hope to go back there when I retire. I'm fond of the Smokies. I'm gonna get some GOOD nature photos then! (Not much besides little stands of trees and a few squirrels in Ohio!)

If I had $2500, I'd buy whatever the top of the line professional DSLR is, and some great lenses for it.
