Default MACRO: What's best $500 macro camera at the moment?

Hi guys,

I have to take photos of various college rings for my work and I need a camera that has a very close macro setting WITH very good imaging, that enables me to get up close (5cm max?)

My budget is around the $500 mark. Can anyone recommend one that I could use for this work?

Much appreciated, 1HPD

Any one of Nikon's Coolpix line will give you great marcros. They focus down to 1 cm!

Here's an example. Bet ya' didn't know a $20 bill has that imprint (lower left corner).

There's no doubt that the Nikon CP's are the best for macro use. If you could up the ante about $100 you could probably pick up a CP4500. Otherwise a CP950, 990 or 995 might be available for a bit less.
