Why not make it yourself ?

1. Open en empty canvas in RGB mode. Choose Gradient Tool and Linear gradient too. Also choose dark as foreground color and white as background color. Draw a line from the top to the bottom of the canvas. The image should look something like the one illustrated. Try not to make the shot too large. The lightning will almost certain be transformed into a smaller size at the end.

2. Choose FILTER => RENDER => DIFFERENT CLOUDS. Then IMAGE => ADJUSTMENTS=> INVERT.

3.Adjust the dark areas with the LEVELS function. IMAGE => ADJUSTMENTS => LEVELS. You have to move the sliders quite a bit - how much is up to you. Must look like a lightning though.

4. Now the lightning is finished and is ready to be copied into the main image. You can combine several lightning's to get the right look. It's really matters. Now do a selection of the lightning i.e. with the MAGIC WAND TOOL and click & drag it into the main image. Or just use the copy & paste functions if you like. The lightning has to be in the right place and be scaled correctly. Use the TRANSFORM function for this. First make your layer active by clicking the lightning layer in the layers palette. Then right-click on the lightning in the image and choose FREE TRANSFORM. Now you can use the mouse to rotate and scale the lightning layer, just as you like.

5. You can copy the lightning several times and combine the layers to make more complicated lightning.

This tutorial will be available with illustrations on my website soon.

It's all free and will stay that way!
