Default Email digital pictures

My camera takes pictures that have too many pixels. When I email them, many people can't view the pictures. How can I reduce the number of pixels in the file before I email them to others? I use Windows 2000.

Your best bet is probably Irfanview. Freeware: www.irfanview.com

When you open any picture you can go Image>Resize/resample and it will let you size it to any you want. It has some standard sizes – 640 X 480 is usually good for e-mail.

You can also go File>Thumbnails and it will make thumbnails of the entire folder of pictures. You can select several while holding the Ctrl key and batch resize them all at once.

Be careful to “Save as” and send the resized pictures to another folder or rename them. Once you downsize an image you have lost the pixels and can’t get them back by resizing back up. You want to always save the originals.
