Default 8Mpix camera instead of 5Mpix

make me one thing clear. Why i should buy 8Mpix camera instead of 5Mpix.
Dont tell its only matter of printing size. Can I take just the same good fotos with 8Mpix camera in 5Mpix resolution as with 5Mpix camera?
I choose between Nikon8700 and CanonPro1(DSLR is out of my budget),generally which is better.
I take very different kind of pictures and most importand for me is noise and detail level on
the pitctures.
Pleas answer, thank you!!

Ignoring the issues of the specific cameras (which I don't know) here are some thoughts:

You can produce bigger prints. You already know that.
You can crop more for a better composition and still have enough pixels to produce a bigger print.

The downsides of more MP.

If the physical sensor size is the same, then the 8MP will probably have more noise than the 5MP. Of course, the newer camera might have better noise reduction technology in it to negate that.

I've heard some color problems with some of the new 8MP cameras (Sony 828.)

Since you don't say exactly what type of pictures you take, people can't comment on things like lens differences in the two pictures you list.

landscape pictures, "street photos", pitctures at night time-citys
panoramic views.Macros and portrait can do more or less
any 8Mpix.
