Default monitor slowly "going"?

For a little while now, I've noticed that my monitor (Optiquest Q71), will "squeeze" in just a little-just around the screen.
Perhaps better to say that the screen shrinks just a hair and then goes back to normal.
It continues to do this, periodically. Might my monitor be dyeing a slow death? It is about 5 years old.

Since on the topic of monitors, has anyone anything to say about either the ViewSonic G90FB 19" CRT or NEC FE990 19" CRT?

I would tend to believe your monitor is on its final legs. Can't help you with the other questions.

This is what I'm tending to believe, too. I've not had a monitor outside of this one so I am not aware of the signs of a failing monitor.
I guess I will press on with it until it gets worse. My only hope is, it won't suddenly die on me. If it gets worse, time to upgrade. I won't feel bad about that...a 19" over the 17" would be nice 8) As well as some other improvements.

Thank you for chiming in!
